Pain Relief Using Hypnosis

Pain Relief Using Hypnosis

Modern doctors are looking at the danger of addiction and overdose when they use drugs as a form of pain control and turning to other than mainstream methods. For many years, hypnosis was part of the birthing process for women that didn’t want to experience pain, wanted to remain alert and didn’t want the risk that a spinal block posed. They practiced hypnosis for several months during their pregnancy and when the time came for delivery, the hypnotherapist, often a nurse with a specialist degree, accompanied the women into the labor room. The therapist guides the soon-to-be mother into a blissful hypnotic state so she remained aware of the process and participates in the birth, but there is no pain during the process.

The achievement of pain control comes through the use other methods of mind control. The image of yogis sleeping on a bed of spikes springs forth in the mind when one mentions yoga and pain control. Since pain is a function of the brain and central nervous system, it only makes sense that those trained enough to lower their heart rate to a point of stopping and remain in a trance like state for hours, could easily interrupt the message to and from the brain indicating pain.

Pain is an indicator of the mind that there’s a problem that needs attention. It serves an important function for the body and alerts you to areas needing attention. Some pain, however, continues even though the person can do nothing about the situation. In these cases, finding a way to relieve the pain and interrupt the signal is important. It allows the patient to continue to function even when pain might otherwise incapacitate them. More physicians today find that pain management is easier using alternatives like hypnosis, rather than the use of drugs. Frequently those taking pain medication must continually increase dosages to receive the same relief that the medication originally gave. Often the medications interfere with the normal functioning of the person in pain. Occasionally the drowsiness it creates is as incapacitating as the pain originally was.

Experiments with using hypnotism in the healing process also may prove beneficial. There are two different techniques for healing. In one case, the subject is hypnotized and then the hypnotist relays a visual picture of healing to the subject. The hypnotized patients body responds to the vision placed in the mind of the patient. In the second instance, no verbal command is given or suggestion imparted. The practitioner of hypnotism simply focuses on healing the person and making mental contact with the body and mind. The mental suggestion given stimulates the body to heal. Studies done on healers that use this technique show increased activity in parts of the brain that normally remain dormant.

Further studies into the area of pain management and healing may prove to change the way doctors work with their patients. Imagine the sufferer of chronic back pain suddenly relieved after a few sessions of hypnotherapy. Consider the amount of money saved by individuals and health insurance companies if these non-invasive, chemical free methods were mainstream techniques and available to all people in pain.

Protecting the Structure of the Physical Body

Protecting the Structure of the Physical Body

posted on February 19, 2010

The skeletal system provides support, protection, and structure for the physical body systems and from the external environment. It consists predominantly of bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Injury and weakness occur in the skeletal system when a person holds the emotions of judgment of self and others, feelings of being let down, betrayed, taken advantage of, or holding on to secrets and being dishonest with you and others. Just as in all systems of the body, particular areas of the skeletal system suppress very specific emotions which can manifest into physical conditions.

Bones degenerate when you do not honor yourself and your body. Bones harden when you are hard on yourself and expect too much of yourself and others.  Bones weaken when you are feeling lost, disempowered, isolated, worried, stressed, ashamed or unkind.  Bones break when you reach a breaking point in your life, carry deep-seated pain and feel you need to hurt or punish yourself. Arthritis is a physical condition that is an excellent example of bone weakening and eventual degeneration.

Ligament damage and inflammation manifests into physical symptoms from an emotional base, as well. Suppressing your feelings, experiencing too much strain, stress and worry and not dealing with your challenges all contribute to ligament damage. When you find yourself trying to control rather than allowing the events, situations and people in your life to happen at their own speed, and their own way, you are contributing to potential ligament ailments.  Frozen shoulder is a physical condition which is a good example of unexplained ligament pain and damage.

Physical conditions which involve the cartilage of the joints are most often closely related to a bone fracture, inflammation, or weakening of the bone or tendon.  Because of the close association to the bone, we may assume the emotional connection is also that of the bone.  Cartilage has its own emotional connection. When you have stopped listening to your body and resist the change your bones have warned you about, then the cartilage becomes affected. You are inflexible, stuck in your ways; you have given your power away to another and allow them to control you because of lack of self-belief and trust in yourself.  Repeating the cause of your strain only strengthens the pain, wearing on your physical joints until they become unbearably painful or “lock up” unable to move freely.  Joint mice or osteochondritis dissecans is a physical example of this emotional condition usually affecting the knees and elbows.

The physical conditions caused by the emotional body in the skeletal system can be reversed. First you need to learn how to forgive, adapt to new situations with a positive attitude and look for a blessing in every situation that presents itself to you. You begin by asking for Divine Healing Energy to release all self-imposed limitations, hardness, resentment, inflexibility and blame from your bones and to replace these feelings with inner strength, confidence, self-belief, appreciation and acceptance.  Then ask for assistance to be a more kind, loving, and appreciative individual toward myself and others. Secondly, become more aware of how your judgments have affected your life and the people around you. Each day think about how you view your environment and those people in it. Do you appreciate and value the role each of them plays in your life?

Divine Healing Energy…

Divine Healing Energy…

Hear my prayer, Divine Healing Energy, and my asking for mercy. When in pain and illness you are my companion, let there be room in my heart for your strength. When my days and nights are filled with darkness, let courage find its place, until the light once again comes to me. Help me endure the suffering and dissolve the fear, renewing within me the calm spirit of trust and peace. May I soon know a time of complete healing of this physical body, and of my spirit within. Blessed are you.
The healing process requires us to look deep into our own being and to pull unpleasant and uncomfortable emotions out and face them with conviction. First identifying, and then releasing these emotions attached to the physical symptoms, is difficult and at times exhausting. The energy required to heal is tremendous and must not be taken lightly. Remember this is a process and does not need to be, and in most cases cannot be, solved in one day, one week or even one month. Placing unrealistic expectations of measured success can only add to the energy drain. I know you have heard it before, but it took time to come to place, it will take an equal amount of time to reverse it. Depending upon the severity of the physical condition and the length of time you have not been addressing the emotional body attached to it, will be a good indicator of the healing time it will take to reverse the condition. I do not want you to be discouraged or think this is too much work, so you won’t even try, because the rewards are great. You have the strength and the energy to reverse the physical condition and get back to a balanced mind, body, and soul. You have already made a huge step in connecting with this web site and reading this blog. You have identified that you desire a change in your present situation. Don’t discount the value of that statement.
Always remember this is not a task you must do alone. There are many people, in many different fields of expertise that are here to assist you. The key to this help is you must ask. Until you ask, the assistance that is waiting to help you will not know you are ready to move forward. The healing process is a team effort between you, those who have expertise of the physical body, and those who have expertise of the spiritual (emotional or etheric) body. Every person in this team has a valuable and important role to play, and working together they can achieve great healing. A support system of clergy, family, friends, medical personnel, spiritual guides and counselors, and your own spiritual guardians will guide and assist you along the way. And of course, I will be here to answer your questions and assist in your healing with information, prayer, meditation and if needed healing counseling and requests. Always remember you are loved and not alone on your journey to health and balance.
