Relief From Pain Without Chemicals

Modern doctors are looking at the danger of addiction and overdose when they use drugs as a form of pain control and turning to other than mainstream methods. For many years, hypnosis was part of the birthing process for women that didn’t want to experience pain, wanted to remain alert and didn’t want the risk that a spinal block posed. They practiced hypnosis for several months during their pregnancy and when the time came for delivery, the hypnotherapist, often a nurse with a specialist degree, accompanied the women into the labor room. The therapist guides the soon-to-be mother into a blissful hypnotic state so she remained aware of the process and participates in the birth, but there is no pain during the process.

The achievement of pain control comes through the use other methods of mind control. The image of yogis sleeping on a bed of spikes springs forth in the mind when one mentions yoga and pain control. Since pain is a function of the brain and central nervous system, it only makes sense that those trained enough to lower their heart rate to a point of stopping and remain in a trance like state for hours, could easily interrupt the message to and from the brain indicating pain.

Pain is an indicator of the mind that there’s a problem that needs attention. It serves an important function for the body and alerts you to areas needing attention. Some pain, however, continues even though the person can do nothing about the situation. In these cases, finding a way to relieve the pain and interrupt the signal is important. It allows the patient to continue to function even when pain might otherwise incapacitate them. More physicians today find that pain management is easier using alternatives like hypnosis, rather than the use of drugs. Frequently those taking pain medication must continually increase dosages to receive the same relief that the medication originally gave. Often the medications interfere with the normal functioning of the person in pain. Occasionally the drowsiness it creates is as incapacitating as the pain originally was.

Experiments with using hypnotism in the healing process also may prove beneficial. There are two different techniques for healing. In one case, the subject is hypnotized and then the hypnotist relays a visual picture of healing to the subject. The hypnotized patients body responds to the vision placed in the mind of the patient. In the second instance, no verbal command is given or suggestion imparted. The practitioner of hypnotism simply focuses on healing the person and making mental contact with the body and mind. The mental suggestion given stimulates the body to heal. Studies done on healers that use this technique show increased activity in parts of the brain that normally remain dormant.

Further studies into the area of pain management and healing may prove to change the way doctors work with their patients. Imagine the sufferer of chronic back pain suddenly relieved after a few sessions of hypnotherapy. Consider the amount of money saved by individuals and health insurance companies if these non-invasive, chemical free methods were mainstream techniques and available to all people in pain.

The 7th Chakra

The seventh chakra, or crown chakra, is located where a baby’s soft spot is.  It symbolizes the totality of creation, wholeness and completion and relates to consciousness as pure awareness.  The element is thought as it relates to inspiration, divine wisdom and perception beyond space and time.  It is oriented to self-knowledge and Universal identity.

When out of balance, it is difficult to make decisions or have a sense of belonging. When this chakra is functioning properly, we feel spiritual connection to all, bliss and peace with ourselves. Balance is achieved and a unity consciousness develops.

This chakra is linked to the colors violet, white and gold and the planet Uranus. This chakra responds well to sacred chants, mantras, tuning forks, bells and singing bowls.

The possible physiological benefits for a balanced seventh chakra are a healthy muscular and epidural system and living in a flow of energy that is sourced from our divine nature.

Gemstones:

Amethyst helps to activate the crown and connect with the higher self. It takes you into a deep state of meditation quickly.

Citrine  helps to access personal power and enhance self-confidence. It releases fears and stresses from the body.

Gold is a great conductor of energy and can help repair damage at a cellular level.

Mantra: “I radiate in my divine connection to spirit and universal consciousness.  I am at one with all that is.”

Each of our malas come with its own life-affirming mantra (“prayer”, in Sanskrit) and represents a convergence of ancient spiritual tradition and modern beauty: The simplicity of gemstones is known to have healing qualities and, when worn around the wrist, is a constant reminder of the sacred within each of us.

Namaste,
Celedra Gildea,PhD,

Five Steps to Develop Your Sixth Sense

I am a psychiatrist who specializes in intuition. When patients come to see me, I listen to them with my intellect as well my intuition, a potent form of inner wisdom not mediated by the rational mind. Accessible to all, it’s a still, small voice inside-an unflinching truth-teller committed to our well-being. Sometimes I experience it as a snap-shot-like flash, a gut feeling, a hunch, a physical sensation, a dream. Whatever the form, it is always a friend, keeping a steady eye on our bodies and spirits, letting us know if something is out of sync.

As a psychiatrist I see many people with everything material they can ever want, and still they feel lost. What’s missing is a palpable connection with their intuitive voice, one that will always guide them in an empowered direction. I believe that without this connection, it’s impossible to lead a truly passionate life, based on instinct and authentic inner knowledge. I’ve written Dr. Judith Orloff’s Guide to Intuitive Healing: Five Steps to Physical, Emotional, and Sexual Wellness as a primer on how everyone can develop intuition and utilize it as a powerful tool for living. Intuition is not something I simply teach my patients. It has become a way of life for me. The magic of intuition is that it insists you live in the moment with no expectations, a continuing freshness. Intuition is our birthright, available to everyone. To access it, I’ve developed five steps that can be applied to any issue you’ll ever confront from healing your body, to riding a roller-coaster of emotions to sexual awakening. I live by these five steps I suggest you give them a try. My hope is that they will bring you the joy and clarity you’ve been searching for.

  1. Notice Your Beliefs
  2. Be In Your Body
  3. Sense Your Body’s Subtle Energy
  4. Ask for Inner Guidance
  5. Listen To Your Dreams

Intuitive Healing

The popularity of intuitive healing is becoming more and more apparent. Still, there are a number of individuals out there who have  never heard of the practice, finding the process quite intimidating.

In a more spiritual approach, illnesses are caused by the presence of stagnant energy. By undergoing intuitive healing, your energy flow can be corrected, thus curing you of the sickness. Listed here are three simple steps of intuitive healing you can practice on your own.

The first step is for you to locate the problem in your body. Take a moment and pinpoint which part of your body is aching or is having a discomfort. Connect to the emotion you are suppressing because of the pain in your body and let it come to the surface. Let go of your inhibitions and be as scared, as whiny or as angry as you want to be.

The next step of intuitive healing requires the activation of your energy flow. It is important to keep your energy moving throughout your body at this point. Find the center of your Intuition, your sixth Chakra as they call it. Your Chakra is located right in the middle of your eyebrows. Tap it for ten to thirty seconds.

The last step involves anchoring the healing energy. To do this, you must press your middle finger against your chakra, the point right between your eyebrows. You must hold that pressure in your Chakra while chanting “Instant healing”. This part of intuitive healing triggers the healing process in your body. After the whole process, release the pressure in your Chakra and clear any thoughts from your mind.

Before you can use your skills for intuitive anatomy search, you would need to rest for 24 hours after each session. You can do this by taking a warm bath or by having a quick nap. Now, just because you have your energy flowing perfectly in your body, it does not mean you can run and win a marathon the following day. It only assures you that you are making progress towards healing your body. Single session of intuitive healing is often enough. For those with chronic diseases, they can practice intuitive healing as often as fourteen days.
